Exterior Painting
Whether it’s a repaint or a restoration to the exterior of your home, the team at CKS Painting Group have done it all.
At CKS Painting Group, our service begins with an exterior property inspection. Similar to the interior inspection, we check all of the existing finishes and materials, identifying areas in need of sanding, repair or replacement prior to painting.
Exterior Preparation
Similar to our interior preparation, our exterior preparation puts a strong focus on leaving your garden and the exterior of your home in a better condition than before we started. We cover all footpaths, driveways, outdoor areas with drop sheets for the duration of the job. Plants and garden beds are individually covered at the beginning of each day with plastic sheets. These are removed then recovered every morning so we’re not damaging the integrity of the plants overnight.
When painting exterior windows, the glass is protected twice prior to work commencing. First we apply a border or painters tape around the glass then we apply two coats of liquid tape. This creates a thick film on the glass for the duration of the job which is then easily removed once work is complete.
For exterior timber, we’re able to repair rotten weatherboards, fascia or even window frames. We always try to repair damaged areas first and use replacement as a last resort. Doing so keeps the cost down.
For exterior render, we scrape open any cracked or flaking areas, we then do spot repairs on the damaged areas before finishing with a three coat paint system.
Surface Preparation
All of our exterior jobs, whether it be a weatherboard home or rendered one, starts with a pressure wash of the home. Doing so removes any build up of moss or dirt that’s accumulated over the years and provides us with a clean surface to apply our new coats of paint to. This will usually happen a day before the rest of the team arrive so it gives the washed areas plenty of time to dry.
For weatherboard homes we then follow a similar process to our interior preparation. All of the timber surfaces to be painted are then sanded with our Festool vacuum sanders. Doing so removes any potential flaking paint and gives us a nice smooth surface on which to apply the new coats of paint.
Once we’re happy that all of our repairs are complete, our team of painters will apply the primer and paint specific to the substrate of your home. We aim to give you progress updates every day on how we’re tracking and encourage clients to provide feedback if they think we might have missed something.
